The City Deal Kennis Maken partners, including Avans University of Applied Sciences, Fontys Law School, the Municipality of ‘s-Hertogenbosch, HAS Green Academy, Jheronimus Academy of Data Science (JADS), Koning Willem I College, and Yuverta, are deepening their collaboration with a focus on creating a green and healthy living environment. This initiative, running from 2023 to 2025, aims to have students and educators work together across disciplines to enhance the quality of life in ‘s-Hertogenbosch, supported by a recent grant from the SIA.
The primary goal is to accelerate the resolution of societal challenges through improved collaboration between city governance and educational institutions. Building on the foundation established since 2019, the project will focus on sustainability, linking education and research to current health issues, and developing methods to measure the impact of these efforts.
By engaging 30,000 students in multidisciplinary projects, the City Deal Kennis Maken aims to foster a greener, healthier ‘s-Hertogenbosch.
JADS actively contributes to the City Deal Kennis Maken: Groene en Gezonde Leefomgeving project through the TREAT project. Leveraging the city of ‘s-Hertogenbosch, particularly events like the “Vestingloop”, JADS utilizes these platforms to test new technologies aimed at promoting health and wellness in a community setting. This initiative not only advances technological research but also fosters community engagement by making JADS’ research accessible to a broader audience in the city.
The TREAT project addresses the complexity of managing non-communicable diseases (NCDs) such as Diabetes and Osteoarthritis. Traditional healthcare systems often fall short in empowering patients to effectively manage their chronic conditions. TREAT aims to bridge this gap by providing comprehensive management solutions that integrate diverse medical advice and recommendations.
JADS is represented in this endeavor by two EngD candidates, along with Professor Aarnout Brombacher. Their collaborative efforts, in conjunction with various researchers from both domestic and international institutions, are instrumental in driving forward the goals of the City Deal Kennis Maken project.
