The challenge
Our economy is increasingly data-driven. In order to respond to changes in society, it is important for companies to utilize data in the right way. Objective of the project is the use of (big) data by the agrifood chain and SMEs in Northeast Brabant and to facilitate not only the “front runners”, but “the peloton” to understand and apply innovations in society.
What we did
Researchers and students in co-operation with entrepreneurs are developing facilities to make SMEs data-savvy. Young talents, SME employers and employees are inspired and informed about datascience and activated and equiped to apply datascience in the agrifood domain. This project is part of the ” Regio Deal Noordoost Brabant” project. Over the next two years, national government, the province of North Brabant, region and business will jointly invest more than 40 million euros extra in the quality of life and prosperity in Northeast Brabant. 17 regional projects are supported. Within the pillar “Working Differently”, JADS, Rabobank, Platform Driven by Data and HAS will contribute to the Data-driven agrifood region project.
Outcome
Young talents from the region (students from MBO, HBO and WO and young employees in companies) commit themselves to this project, by successfully completing practice-oriented educational and / or research modules. Agrifood companies from the region and other SMEs from the region have their data applied in workshops, new projects, tools, processes or business models, through the facilities of the project. In all of these companies, young talents (students and graduates of MBO, HBO, WO) inspire and facilitate workers and managers to value their Data. A digital data-toolbox is developed combined with a list of facilitating data-related service providers in the region.
