AI-powered risk analysis: SME Datalab's collaboration with Safety Region Brabant North
In Brabant, Safety Region Brabant North and Safety Region Brabant South East face a challenging task: understanding which risks threaten Brabant, and this involves consulting a large number of sources and going through documents. To simplify this, they partnered with SME Datalab, with a student leading the project.
The Challenge
In the past, risk analysis was complex and time-consuming. Many sources had to be searched through, with a risk of incorrect information or sensitive data leaks. Finding a fast, accurate, and secure solution was the biggest challenge.
What the student did
our Student explored how to use generative AI in the Safety Region’s process. After discussion and analysis, he chose Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG). This allowed him to use factual information from public documents, reducing the risk of errors and leaks.
The result
By integrating RAG into a web application, the student created a useful tool for Safety Region staff. They can now quickly and efficiently find and analyze relevant information, reducing the time for risk analysis. It’s important to note that the documents used are public, and our student warned against using sensitive information to prevent data leaks.
