The bachelor is an English taught program that teaches you to analyze and apply complex, unstructured data to provide new insights to unsolved issues faced by government, industry and society. The program is taught in Eindhoven and Tilburg so traveling is required.
Data Science aims to answer questions, such as: ‘What happened?’, ‘Why did it happen’, ‘What will happen?’ and ‘What is the best that can happen?’.
Raw data and additional computing power are not the only two things required to be able to provide answers to such questions. The value of our BSc Data Science is enhanced by our multi-disciplinary approach that helps you acquire insights into how to transform complex data into real value for people and organizations.
This BSc is a joint program by Tilburg University and Eindhoven University of Technology that combines the best of each university’s relevant expertise. The BCs Data Science is characterized by a varied, interdisciplinary curriculum, with courses such as: Data Mining, Data Science Ethics, Law and Data Science, Human Technology Interaction, Data Statistics and Business Analytics.
Students learn to identify trends and potential opportunities that can be applied in business, medical research, public policy and much more, whilst also considering social and ethical issues related to data science.
This Data Science major is a joint BSc program by Tilburg University and Eindhoven University of Technology. Courses are taught in Eindhoven and Tilburg. This entails travel between the two university campuses. We make sure that you don’t have to travel between campuses on the same day for any of your Majors. Same-day travel could be necessary for electives.
Except for one subject, the Major program is identical at both universities. Students who apply through TU/e follow the course Applied Physical Sciences, whereas students applying through Tilburg University follow the Foundations of Computing course. It is possible to follow electives at both universities.
The BSc program is an excellent pre-cursor to any one of the MSc programs offered by the Jheronimus Academy of Data Science, Tilburg University or TU/e.
A unique aspect of our program is the integration of technology and humanities. The BSc Data Science will provide you with the skills and insights required for storing, processing, analyzing, manipulating, visualizing and interpreting data.
Through our multidisciplinary approach, you also learn how to communicate your findings, linking between theory and practice through the use of real-world data sets. Our close ties with industry and industry experts, means students apply data to solve actual problems faced by industry.
The application and admission procedure for the Bachelor is done exclusively via TU/e. You can find the complete step-by-step procedure on their website. Once you have completed your enrollment at TU/e, you will automatically be enrolled at Tilburg University and you will have access to the facilities of all three campuses in ’s-Hertogenbosch, Eindhoven and Tilburg.
