In this Expert Talk, we will dive into the world of data science and healthcare. How can data science help delivering the best, personalized care to patients? What could be the benefits? And which issues need to be addressed? Using two concrete examples, we will try to address questions about personalization, explainability and causality.
prof. dr. Esther de Vries, Coordinator Data Science Jeroen Bosch Hospital & Endowed Professor at Tranzo, Tilburg University
Esther will talk about using data science techniques on routine health care data to improve the quality of care. She will focus on the three themes the Jeroen Bosch Hospital has chosen for this effort: 1. Learning from our daily work (retrospective data analysis), 2. Tailoring care to the patient (prediction modeling), and 3. Display, explain and use (FAIR, explainable AI, open access). She will discuss the potential, as well as the facilitators and barriers encountered.
prof. dr. Maurits Kaptein, Professor of Data Science and Health, JADS.
In this talk Maurits will discuss a joint project with IKNL aiming to personalize the adjuvant treatment of colon-cancer patients using NKR data. Maurits will focus specifically on the challenge of causal inference and building interpretable models.
