Celebrating five years of empowering women in data science

On April 16, 2024, the fifth edition of the event ‘Ladies of Data 2024‘ will take place at JADS Mariënburg in ‘s-Hertogenbosch. Ladies of Data has evolved into a dynamic platform that unites and supports women in the data science sector since the beginning.
Ladies of Data 2024 promises to be an enlightening event featuring distinguished speakers such as Meike Nauta (Datacation), Nadine Beks van Raaij (PNA Group), Andreea Gorbatai (Vlerick Business School), and Jet Smits (InIn and Dutch AI). This year’s central theme, “Debiasing (with) AI,” delves into the challenges and solutions regarding biases in AI. Host Dr. Ksenia Podoynitsyna reflects on the theme, stating, ““The ‘Debiasing (with) AI’ theme can be interpreted in two ways: debiasing AI, and debiasing with AI. While much discussion rightly focuses on the biases and risks of AI, we aim to reorient the dialogue and emphasize that biases originate from people. Therefore, even without AI, biases persist, but through the design of responsible AI models, we can indeed improve the world.”
State Secretary for Kingdom Relations and Digitalization, Alexandra van Huffelen, will participate in a panel discussion alongside Meike Nauta (Datacation), Noëlle Cicilia (Brush AI), and Rina Joosten (Pera), sharing insights on AI and biases. Besides a keynote presentation and breakout sessions, networking opportunities will be available during a reception.
“The fifth anniversary of Ladies of Data serves as a reminder of the strides made in supporting women in data science,” expressed the organizers. “We celebrate this milestone and collectively explore how data science can foster a more inclusive society.”
