Biography

Milad Latifi is a PhD candidate at the Data Analytics Department within the ILUSTRE Lab, focusing on AI-driven solutions for demand-side energy management in smart grids and microgrids. His research project, “AI for Power Grid Balancing Using Recommendation-Enhanced Demand Response (DR),” seeks to enhance grid stability by using AI-based recommender systems to provide personalized energy consumption advice. These systems empower consumers to become active participants in balancing power grids, particularly with high renewable energy integration.

Milad holds both a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, specializing in power systems. His current work at ILUSTRE Lab leverages Curacao island as a living lab to develop AI-driven energy management strategies. The lab is part of the ROBUST program within the Netherlands Innovation Center for Artificial Intelligence (ICAI), a human-centered AI initiative focused on sustainable growth, funded by the Netherlands Organization for Scientific Research (NWO).
